I know I just posted yesterday, it’s dragoncon season, I’ll post as much as I want.
I came up with what I think is my finalized line-up.
So let’s go through ’em, because I was finally able to order a ton of stuff yesterday and I have a better trajectory than I did in yesterday’s post.
1. Wanda
Got my HTV ordered and it’ll be here thursday. I also bought boots! I ended up with a wedge heel because I wanted a little bit of height. My lining material for the half skirt will be here today. Finally feeling like I have a forward motion on this.
2. Padme
Fabric for the gathered section arrives today! I’m planning on working on it tonight. No updates on other fronts.
3. Diane
Got my wig ordered! I’ll need to cut it when it arrives. Also dug up my shoes and realized I had a red bracelet that’ll work fine. Just need to buy fake nails and paint them. And find my pros-aide.
4. The surprise costume
Got my wig ordered for this to. It’ll need some curling and styling but shouldn’t be much
5. Eliza
Shoes are done, and I don’t think the wig really needs to be styled, but I need to try it on and see. Also need to get a thinner lacing cord for the back because the one I have on there now is WAY too long, and all my others are too thick.
6. Arwen
Fixed my necklace. This is done unless I want to try to wear elf ears with it which i’m thinking no, I usually can’t wear a wig and elf ears at the same time.
7. Raddus Bridge
Need to clean up the wig a little and figure out which boots I hemmed this for, but that’s all.
8. Ceremonial Leia
New shoes bought!! I ended up with a pair of dance heels that aren’t 100% perfect (they’ve got straps and the heel’s a little curved) but I figured dance shoes would be more likely to be comfortable. So when they arrive I’ll cut the straps off and fingers crossed the heel isn’t too short for my dress.
9. Poe Dameron Comic Leia
She’s all done, doesn’t need anything.
10. Mothman
I gotta find the lights for the headband. I took them off to use in halloween decorations at some point.
11. Dorothy
Yes I’m bringing an ancient 2006 costume with me LOL I’ve got to get my Belle wig out and french braid it, but otherwise done. I added more sequins to the shoes the other night. I’m only bringing this to track down Thranduart in his amazing Glinda for some pics. But I mean it’s comfy and I get to carry a basket I can keep my stuff in so I may end up wearing longer than expected because that’s handy.
12. Trillian
Yes I’m bringing Trillian back, again. Originally I had this slot as a “wild card” section because I couldn’t decide between the green historical Belle costume, Love Shack Kate, or I was even thinking about Sailor Jupiter. But since HHGTTG turns 42 this year, I asked Chase if he’d want to wear Zaphod again, and he actually agreed, LOL. So I got both costumes out last night. Zaphod is in good shape since he’s only worn it once, he did lose a piece off his belt at dcon 2013 but he’s not going to worry about it.
I decided if I’m bringing Trillian back she needs a clean up. So last night I soaked the bottom of suit – the back of the pants that drags on the ground was pretty nasty. Scrubbed with some stain remover and let it soak. Once I got it out I let it dry on a towel while I popped the patch off. The patch I never completely sewed on 2013 LMAO. Like literally it’s not that part of it came undone, I remember sewing it on, running out of thread about 75% of the way around it and being like… ok it’s good enough LOL. It was also too low on the arm. So I moved it up and got it fully sewn in place.
Also repaired a spot on the suit where the terry cloth is stressed, and decided I’d restyle the wig. My Trillian wig has always been an out of the bag Arda Jeannie wig, like I literally did nothing to it. the ponytail has been loose for a while and I’ve always wanted to curl it, so I did that last night. Took the original ponytail down (just as I was waffling on actually doing that, the original elastic broke, so I no longer had a choice LOL), put it back up in a tighter ponytail. I forgot how THICK Arda wig hair is. Ended up having to do the pony in 3 sections to get it all up. Then I put the ponytail in rollers and dunked it in boiling water. It’s still drying off this morning so hopefully it’s dry enough I can take it down tonight and see the results.

So let’s talk Dragoncon PLANS.
I don’t really have any lol.
I did have 3 photoshoots I wanted to participate in. Unfortunately they all have ended up being back-to-back-to-back on Friday afternoon and I’m not going to stress myself trying to get to all 3.
The Leia photoshoot is at 1 Friday and I do want to go – probably in Poe Dameron Leia.
Then the Wandavision shoot is at 4 Friday and that’s probably enough time to change without a lot of drama, but it’s over at Hardy Ivy, so you’ve got to build in the slow-walk time through the hamster tubes (not doing the hot outdoor walk) and back.
And then the big star wars shoot is at 5 Friday and I had wanted to wear Padme there with Chase as bail since there doesn’t seem to be a Padme gathering this year yet. But that’s not going to be do-able if I do the Wandavision shoot.
All of this also considering my preference is to do dealer’s room friday. So I’m playing everything by ear and not committing to anything.
And you guys know I don’t even do like…. tentative costume schedules anymore. But I do kinda like to try to put things in order in my head to make sure I have enough time for everything, but I’ll do that closer to con once we have a feel for how the con is going to even look this year. I really hope it’s fairly normal.
